Matt and Maxi need help
On October 7th I saw a man sitting on the ground with a dog laying on his lap. I learned his name is Matt and his dog is Maxi. She is eleven years old and Matt has had her since she was a puppy. I reached down to pet her and she happily wagged her tail and enjoyed my attention.
Matt explained Maxi could only eat wet food due to an abscess in her mouth. He had taken her to the ASPCA and got some meds for her, but her mouth was still bleeding. I offered my assistance for Maxi and he gratefully accepted. I gave him some dog food, water and a blanket and made arrangements for him to take Maxi to my vet at no cost to him. His surprise and gratitude was my reward.
After visiting the vet, we learned Maxi has oral cancer. The mass is at risk of growing into her throat and affecting her ability to eat and drink. The biopsy results are still pending, but she will need further vet care.Through our conversations, Matt shared that he was from Ohio and suffers from depression. He showed me some videos from his past that he had posted on YouTube (otispitbull). Seeing him in those videos happily playing with Maxi showed me how depression can steal a life. The difference in Matt is tragic.
Matt is a respectful, humble man who has fallen on hard times due to depression. He loves Maxi so much and this diagnosis is overwhelming. He needs our help to get his life back on track. Please consider a donation - any amount would be gratefully appreciated.
