Hello, my name is Robyn Warnock-Hoffer and I am reaching out to ask for help. My husband Rick is battling an illness and because of this illness he has suffered from 2 minor heart attacks, seizures, diabetes, bell's palsy, and now his liver and kidneys are failing. He suffers from an illness called Obstructive Sleep Apnea and due to the severity of this illness he has been labled unworkable by the Government. They have taken away his ability to work or drive as he passes out constantly without warning.
Most Sleep Apnea is treatable, however there is a small percentage of people (5%) who are considered more severe, Rick falls under that category.
We have been dealing with the sleep centre in Calgary for almost 10 years now and the specialist there has told us that it will be this illness that will kill him and that unfortunately they have gone as far as they can go medically to help him.
I need help, I am alone here with my three children. My family all live in Vancouver and I need to be closer to them.
Where I live right now our economy is going through a recession and so there is very little work, I am actively looking for employment and am part of a few temporary agencies, but even they haven't had me working since November of last year. Because of this we have had to access the food bank and impose on friends from our neighbor church for help.
My husband is being helped by the Government, however it only covers the basics and they restrict persciptions to every month, meaning that they will only cover his insulin, heart medication, blood pressure medication ect...for a month at a time and we need much more of these if we are to try to move provinces. As you may know moving provinces is not easy, we need to cancel the Government funding, move our family, change health care, find a place to live, and find work. If I was able to do this, my mom would then be able to become my husbands caregiver and help to take care of my kids so that I could find employment, but with no money coming in besides what the Government gives us moving is virtually impossible.
Please I need to be closer to my family and I am reaching out to anyone who is willing and able to help make this possible.
