My name is Glenda Ford and I am a mother who works multiple jobs to care for my daughter. On Sunday, December 11, 2022 at approximately 3:00 PM, I was struck by an SUV as I was walking across the street at the corner of Selma and Cahuenga. While walking in the crosswalk, I heard a car quickly approaching. There was no time for me to turn and retreat so, I frantically waved my hands and yelled "STOP" but to no avail. The Range Rover truck plowed into me. Seconds later, my forehead hit the windshield. As I was rolling off the hood of the car, I tried to brace myself for the impact of hitting the ground. As a result of hitting the ground, my right wrist was broken and my arm was fractured. The blow to the back of my head caused a skull fracture with bleeding on the brain. An MRI Scan revealed issues with my ACL, my kneecap, and my left leg gives way at unexpected times when walking. I now have to walk with crutches.
I am now faced with unexpected medical bills which insurance will not cover because I was not driving but walking and unfortunately the person that hit me was driving without insurance. I am not one who asks for help but if you are willing to do so, I would use funds to pay accrued medical expenses, leg and arm surgery, and any other physical therapy.
Thanking you in advance for your support.
