Elijah's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Friday, May 10th changed everything for Elijah Otero, he is a recent high school graduate, pursuing a career in the military, and on this night, his life almost came to a screeching halt. While out with some friends he was a passenger in a life threatening car accident in which he was air lifted to a local hospital. He has a fractured spine, had extensive facial fractures and damage and lacerated his kidney. He had emergency spinal surgery which included a rod and screws, had to have a titanium plate permanently fused to his cheek bone, and his jaw will need to be wired shut for 6 weeks to allow for healing. Just recently his breathing tube was removed and miraculously he is breathing on his own and slowly improving, but he has also had many setbacks, including the staph infection in his lungs that he is trying to fight now. He has a long and difficult road to recovery and his family has come together to help him do this, but they could use our help. His mother Gladys has stayed by his side from day one in the ICU and being out of work has definitely put a strain on things for them. I am asking that we band together and help support this family in a situation that none of us want to imagine finding ourselves in. Any small donation will be accepted with the utmost appreciation and gratitude. Thank you.
