Hi everyone,

This is Charlie. On February 27, Charlie started showing signs of discomfort while urinating. I assumed it was a UTI and he needed a vet visit and some antibiotics, until he began to throw up throughout the night. The next morning we immediately took him to the emergency vet and explained what we had observed.

After several lab work, X-rays and ultrasounds, the vet gave us the unfortunate news that Charlie needed emergency surgery. Charlie was diagnosed with bladder stones that were obstructing the urine from coming out. Within that time, since Charlie wasn't able to release his urine, the urine had no where to go so it spread to his abdomen. This caused him excruciating pain, weakened his immune system, lowered his blood pressure, sugar and heart rate. At this point Charlie began foaming from his mouth and was placed in critical condition. He was hospitalized and placed under observation until the scheduled surgery. During surgery, Charlie was too weak and Doctors said he needed a blood transfusion to survive. At tis moment, Charlie was fighting for his life and i'm just so grateful he was able to fight through.

After surgery he was hospitalized for an additional 24 hrs and doctors said he needed an esophageal feeding tube to be placed to provide nutrition since he was unable to eat on his own. He was then sent home with several medication and an and Etube where we administer food and medications.

This situation has not only cause me a traumatic experience but has left a financial burden for me since I unfortunately didn’t have pet insurance. I almost lost my best friend and Im just so grateful that God granted him another chance at life. If you know me personally, you know that Charlie is my world and that i love this dog soo much!
