Hi, I am Natalie and I am fundraising for my sweet baby nephew Finley's heart surgery. Three days after Finley was born he was largely lethargic and almost nonresponsive. We are so grateful for the lifesaving actions of one of the nurses doing rounds that morning who noticed something was off with Finley. Later that day Finley was diagnosed with ventricular septal defect (VSD). The cardiologist and cardiac surgeons believe his VSD also caused an interrupted aortic arch, which means the part of the aorta that carries blood from the heart to the organs and lower body did not property form. When Finley was one week and two days old he had his first heart surgery. He is now being monitored around the clock but may need another surgery within the next few weeks. My sister in law and brother have been at the hospital with Finley every day but soon my brother will need to go back to work. However, Finley still has a long recovery journey ahead of him. My brother and sister in-law did not know they would need to factor in heart surgery when they originally created their budget to have a baby, and as we all know having a baby is not cheap as is. The National Library of Medicine states that a median cost for this surgery is roughly $50,000 so that is my goal. I am asking for donations to help pay for Finley's hospital expenses and any future life saving surgeries he may need. Anything you can give is appreciated, and I truly do not expect to reach my goal but why not try!
