Hi, my name is Maysaa. I am asking for help to evacuate my elderly parents and 19-year-old brother from Gaza. Every passing day, the situation grows increasingly dire and perilous. Regrettably, our home in Gaza City which our family built over many years was bombed and completely razed at the onset of the conflict in the north, compelling my family to flee multiple times for their very lives. This ordeal proved exceptionally challenging for my mother, given her special needs and chronic illnesses, rendering her unable to walk yet necessitating journeys spanning dozens of miles in search of refuge. Currently, they find themselves devoid of life's basic necessities—water, food, clothing, bedding, and medication—amidst Israel's cessation of electricity and water supplies, coupled with frequent bombings targeting essential facilities like bakeries. Communication is a luxury most days, with no internet connectivity or means to charge their phones, often leaving me unable to reach them for days or even weeks until I can verify their safety. I cannot describe how much this has affected my life and even my ability to function on a daily level for my family. Many days I feel so paralyzed by fear and anxiety that I fall into severe depression from this state and spend the whole day trying to reach them and trying to find ways to keep them out of harm's way.
Their existence teeters on the edge of constant peril, with their lives in danger every hour of every day. Initially they were displaced to Al-Shati camp until it was destroyed. They then headed to Al-Nuseirat in Al-Zahra Towers. Then the occupation asked them to evacuate because they wanted to bomb the first and second towers. So, they went down to the street in the middle of the night. In the cold weather, they waited for the bombing to end. Then they returned to the towers. Two days later, the occupation army informed them of the necessity of a complete evacuation to destroy the remaining ten towers. But they didn't have anywhere to go. First, they went to Palestine University, but they were prevented from entering. They slept in the street for several days, then went to the Foundation for Culture and Free Thought, where my mother works. But after a short period, it was bombed in Khan Yunis, and now they have been displaced to Rafah.
Now relegated to a precarious existence in tents, their plight is compounded by exploitation, with aid meant to be freely distributed being sold at exorbitant prices. We paid nearly $1000 for tents that were meant to be provided at no cost. Living without shelter, water, food, or access to essential medications is an unbearable reality, particularly considering my parents' chronic health conditions. My father's heart condition exacerbates our predicament, compounded by the unavailability of necessary medication. For the past three months, I have desperately pleaded to the U.S. government to place my parents and brother on the Rafah list. The U.S. said they would help, but many months later my family still has not been allowed to leave Gaza. The only option left is to pay expensive crossing fees to get them to safety.
Desperately, I implore for assistance at the earliest opportunity, yearning for the chance to reunite with my family and alleviate their suffering. Thank you.
Our home used to be here, they completely razed our home, and everything is lost:
Before
After!!!
