Help Ken Conquer Cancer

I am writing this on behalf of two of the strongest people I have ever met, my sister, Kait and her husband, Ken DiAmico. They are the amazing parents to Ella (4) and Harper (2). Last March, they experienced something that no parent should ever have to experience - they gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Avery Elizabeth, only having to say goodbye to her a few hours after delivery. Kait and Ken persevered through this incredibly devastating time through their faith and love for each other.
This fall, they received the exciting news that they were expecting their first boy, Bryce, in late June! Ken was beginning to get busy with his new contracting business, Kait was doing well with her pregnancy and the two girls were keeping them as busy as ever. Everything seemed to be back on track.
On Wednesday April 24, 2019 their world came crashing down, Ken was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer, Adrenocortical Carcinoma. They found a massive tumor which is compressing his inferior vena cava and the floor of the right atrium of his heart. Due to the complexity of its location & size of the tumor, it must shrink prior to proceeding with surgery to remove it.
After meeting with several doctors and completing a multitude of tests over the last week, he will begin chemotherapy on Monday May 6th. This is the start of a long 6 week course, and nearly approaching the due date of their baby boy. After the 6 weeks, they will repeat the imaging for Ken to reevaluate the tumor size. If it responds to the chemotherapy and the tumor shrinks, he will then undergo massive surgery to remove the tumor, his kidney, and bypass the inferior vena cava. If it remains too big, they will repeat another 6 weeks of chemotherapy, and go from there.
This is the beginning of quite a long road for Kait, Ken and their family. Ken is the primary breadwinner & is unable to currently work due to ongoing treatment. Kait is due to deliver Bryce in late June and will also need time to recover prior to returning to her clients as a hairdresser and makeup artist.
Kait & Ken will be facing significant challenges in the coming months. To ease the financial burden of treatment, medical bills, a new baby, and incidentals that will arise without question during this difficult time, we are raising funds to help with expenses. We want to ease one less worry for Ken & Kait so they can focus on Ken’s treatment and their family. Please keep them in your thoughts & prayers.
