Honor Michele's Legacy: Support Her Loved Ones

Michele was one of those rare people who made the world brighter just by being in it. She was fun, fiery, and full of life—a woman with the biggest heart who could light up a room with her laugh. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

When Superstorm Sandy hit Long Island, Michele didn’t just sit back and hope things would get better. She jumped in and made them better. She worked tirelessly as the head of Adopt a House to help families who lost everything. If you were hurting, Michele was there—no questions asked, just pure compassion and a determination to fix things.

Now, we need to do for her what she did for so many of us.

On Friday, December 13th, Michele woke up feeling sick and was rushed to the hospital. She had emergency heart surgery, and her husband Drew got the devastating news that Michele’s chances of survival were very low. Through countless ups and downs, her family held onto the hope that she would get better and come home to Drew and their beloved dogs.

Michele spent two weeks fighting in the hospital, but her big, beautiful heart just couldn’t hold on. Her passing has left everyone devastated—and left her family facing not only unimaginable grief but also overwhelming medical bills. On top of that, Drew has had to take time off work to be by Michele’s bedside and now to cope with losing the love of his life.

Michele gave so much of herself to everyone around her. She was the friend who showed up, the stranger who became family, and the kind of person who made you feel seen and loved. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

We’re raising money to help her family with the medical bills and to give them the time and space to grieve without worrying about finances. It’s a small way we can give back to someone who gave us all so much.

Now is also our chance to show Drew how grateful we are to him for giving Michele the unwavering support to follow her heart and dedicate herself to helping so many others for countless years.
