Hi, my name is Nathan Jones, I live in Malibu California together with my partner David Charvet we operate Jones Builders Group, we specialize in building and renovating homes in Malibu
Due to all our work being in Malibu we had no work to go to during the Woolsey fire, we were not going to pay our employee's for lost work so we turned our company into a relief effort
We helped operate a supply drop off in Santa Monica and transferred donated items to the boats in Marina Del Rey, the boats set sail to Malibu Pier and Paradise cove to drop off to incredible people who stayed behind to fight fire, hot spots and take care of the elderly who were left behind, the strength, energy and work of the people who stayed behind was incredible, inspiring, selfless and humbling
I managed to go into Malibu every night and find out what people needed, from face masks to gas it became apparent that people needed generators, power was out for weeks, people needed generators to run their homes, fridges, run equipment used to protect other homes from fire, people needed them to clear their fire damaged homes, people needed them for trailers that were setup on their burnt out lots, people with farms needed them to take care of animals, community serving business needed them
I still get texts, calls and emails for generators for people moving back into burnt out lots and thanking us for generators supplied with stories of how they helped during the hardest of hard times
Our company decided to buy the generators and seek donations to be paid back, the GoFund me campaign has been huge, we spent almost 170k in all and have managed to raise over 100k through go fund me, private donations and donations made to Malibu Boys and Girls Club earmarked for generators
We would do it all again tomorrow knowing that we have the backing of incredible friends, clients, associates, business partners and people we have never met through generous donations through GoFundMe
Our staff members created a Youtube video Malibu Relief Efforts Youtube of images, video and myself on KTLA5 after 2 hours of sleep !!
