I was at my local dog park tonight, talking to one of our regular visitors, who would probably hate this post, as he asks for and expects nothing.

He has worked all his life, until a stroke took away his ability to work, and he ended up homeless.

His dog, Rosie, is everything to him. He gave up job opportunities, safe places to live and every last cent he had to keep her.

He told me about being homeless. How he placed the few blankets he had over her to keep her warm. How he went without food to make sure she was taken care of. He finally found subsidized housing that would take him and Rosie, but was dealt with a crushing blow.

He found out that she has a massive tumor in her lungs.

There is no treatment, and every day is now a challenge, and she can't sleep as the tumor makes it hard for her to breathe.

While compassionate euthanasia can be arranged, it wouldn't cover the cost of him being able to bring her ashes home.

I'm hoping some of my animal and dog loving people would consider donating a small amount so that I can make this happen.
