Hi everyone my name is Ryanne McIver and I would like to tell you a little about my sister her boyfriend and their amazing son Emmett! His adventures in life started way too soon. Emmett was born at just 27 weeks and 1 day into my sisters pregnancy. That means Emmett was 13 1/2 weeks early. The doctors at U of M starting working on him immediately and right away they knew something was wrong with the baby's airway. They ended up finding a birth defect called TEF, which means his esophagus didn't develop the way it should have, it was actually growing out of his trachea. We knew that Emmett would need a very large surgery and many small surgeries to fix everything. He has already had 4 surgeries at just 3 and 1/2 months old. The stress my sister and her family has to go through amazes me. Christina is so strong she never leads on that she is struggling and needs help which she does. My sister took all the leave she could from work and last week she had to make the tough decision to leave her job so she could care for Emmett. These aren't the only problems plaguing my sister and her family, her boyfriend was laid off and she had a bad car accident two weeks ago and totaled her car. If you could find it in your hearts to help my sister with their medical bills and getting her special family back on there feet, it would mean the world to them. They are so loving and they are the type of people that would do anything for anybody at anytime. Thank you
