The Scenic City Youth Football League is currently raising money for the family of Devin Shannon. Devin Shannon is a tremendous athlete that plays for the Scenic City Youth Football League Harrison (8 year old) Team out of Chattanooga, TN.
After a routine medical appointment, a tumor was found in one of Devin's kidneys the size of a baseball. After further testing, this tumor was found to be cancerous. The type of cancer found is called Wilms, a type of cancer found predominantly in young black males.
The doctors are going to remove Devin's kidney on November 2 and then will begin chemo or radiation therapy shortly after his surgery. Devin could recover to a normal life within six to twelve months as long as the cancer has not and does not spread. This diagnosis has caused Devin's mother, Stephanie, to have to quit her job to care for her son for a minimum of twelve months. Stephanie is a woman of faith and is believing God for a miracle for her son, and for enough money to take care of him during his treatment.
