Powell Family-Paradise Fire

Our friends, the Powell family, recently lost their beloved home to the Camp Fire in Paradise CA. Nick and his family had recently moved to Paradise to fulfill a dream of living amongst the big pines of beautiful Paradise. On the day of the fire, Nick was working as a devoted Officer for the California Highway Patrol. When the fire broke out, Nick responded to a care center for the elderly to help evacuate the residents. While driving the residents out through the flames in his patrol car, he was involved in a collision with another fleeing resident, rendering the patrol car disabled. Nick flagged down other motorists and got the elderly persons in his care rides to safety, while he had to perilously escape on foot until linking up with a fire truck and a ride to safety. While this was all occurring Nick had to let his family fend for themselves and escape their beloved home to safety on their own. Sadly, while Nick was out helping others, his house and all his families belongings were unprotected, and succumbed to the unearthly flames that were destroying Paradise. Thankfully Nick and his family are all safe. Our goal is to help Nick and his family through this trying time, and demonstrate that people really value the sacrifices of our first responders. Thank you for your contributions!
