On Thursday, November 8, 2018, Tomilee woke up early to take Spencer to work at the golf club. As she drove, she noticed the ash and embers falling on her car and the cloudy sky. She made a couple calls and was told the fire was quite a ways away and not to worry. After dropping off Spencer, she stopped at a store and was told the town was getting ready to evacuate. She was told to get home, get her cat and leave! She called our parents and told them to hurry back to the golf course to get Spencer. Meanwhile she got home, ran upstairs, grabbed the cat carrier and the cat, ran back to her car and left. She took no time to gather any of her belongings. A few miles away our parents were stuck in traffic trying to get to Spencer. Roads were being closed an panic was setting in. A ranger on the side of the road told Tomilee to call Spencer and tell him to get in a car with ANYONE and get down the hill. Spencer found the keys to a car left at the club and got to Oroville where Starla picked him up. On Friday, November 9, 2018, JR was called to work to go back into Paradise. He arrived at his home to find nothing but the bathtub left. Everything they have is gone. However they are so very thankful that they are all alive and well. They are thankful for so many people who’ve reached out to offer help. For those who would like to give, please do so. Thank you so much for your kindness and prayers in this time of great sorrow.
