Update 9/9/2023
Freda is home! Saturday morning the vet called from the hospital. Freda had been weaned to oral antibiotics and when they changed the bandage everything looked good. We were prepared with the trailer and made the drive to Corvallis to pick up our “Freda Girl”. She was so happy to see us and loaded up for the ride home. It was also great news in that the bill was less than anticipated. She is on daily meds, rewrap leg every 3-5 days, and stall rest. She needs extra love and snuggles
Our community helped save Freda’s life and we want to thank you all for that. We are providing a breakdown of all costs transparency as we want you to see where the money has gone. We are 77% toward the current total with the only unknown being the final visit to pull stitches and final vet check. Anything toward the total is so appreciated!
Total donations for Freda:
GoFundMe. $2,780
Donations $64
Grand Total Donations $2,844
Costs
OSU Hospital
Deposit $2,500
Final remainder due upon pick up $627.70
Grand Total OSU $3,127.70 (significantly below their estimate)
Oakhurst emergency $551
Anticipated final vet visit $250-$350
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Update on our Freda girl.
The vet called last night and everything is looking good. Still no sign of infection however they are continuing her on IV antibiotics. Once she’s on oral she can come home. The vet will be calling again this morning with an update. All I keep hearing is “what a sweet mare”. We are halfway there of meeting the estimated bill at Oregon State University. I can’t even begin to thank everybody for your generosity, care, love, and support for the Hurd. Because of you, we save lives! I know Freda appreciates you all!
