Support Striking Legal Service Workers
Donation protected
The Association of Legislative Employees (ALE) is raising funds from the community to support striking legal service workers in UAW Local 2325 - Association of Legal Advocates and Attorneys (ALAA). Members from Legal Aid Society, NYLAG, Bronx Defenders, Urban Justice Center, Center for Appellate Litigation, Appellate Advocates, CAMBA Legal Services, Office of Appellate Defender, and Goddard Riverside Law Project have authorized strikes with overwhelming majority support in order to drastically improve conditions at their workplaces. ALAA workers provide vital services in the Criminal, Family, Immigration, and Housing courts as well as other social services to prevent evictions, deportations, families from being torn apart. They also work hard to advocate for New Yorkers being held in Rikers, where at least 5 people have died in the last 3 months. Their core demands include: liveable wages, workload provisions so that workers can provide the highest standard of representation, and increased funding to legal services in NYC. Together we can support those on strike in demanding a new standard across the legal services and advocacy sector.
