Our mom, sister, aunt, Mom-Mom, and friend, Lori Dobbs went into the emergency room on September 1, 2015 having symptoms similar to a stroke. After performing an MRI the doctors discovered that she had a large tumor on her right frontal lobe and small tumors along the back of her brain. Three days later she was taken to Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia where she underwent a brain biopsy procedure. On September 10, the biopsy results came back saying she had a level 4 glioblastoma multiforme tumor (the worst and most aggressive form of this cancer). With much prayer and even more faith, Lori underwent a 6 hour procedure to have as much of the large tumor removed as possible by her neurosurgeon. He could not remove the small tumors in the back of her brain for fear of overall damage and decreased quality of life. Since the operation, Lori has had some other health setbacks, including a large bloodclot behind her left knee that require her to take injections in the stomach twice a day to treat her clot. Lori is a widow who lives alone. Her daughter, a 2nd grade teacher, has taken intermittent FMLA to care for her mother and while on leave is without pay. On October 20th, Lori will begin her journey of battling her brain cancer with radiation and chemotherapy. She will be receiving radiation every day for 6 weeks as well as taking a chemotherapy pill for 6 weeks and for an additional 6 months after radiation. The cost of the chemotherapy pills are $8,000 a month. Lori was forced to retire early after working for the United States Postal Service for over 28 years, due to 3 herniated disks in her back that she received while working. Her sole source of income is a disability check from social security. We are trying to apply for patient assistance to help with the immense cost of the chemotherapy pills in addition to the list of other medicinces she will also have to take, and other financial responsibilities. We are asking for you to join us in prayer that God would completely heal Lori and continue to provide her with the faith, strength, and positive attitude to kick cancer's butt!!
Many thanks in advance for your prayers and any contribution you can make. God bless you.
