Could you wait 200 years for a home?
Close your eyes and picture Perth in 1829, the year it was founded. Imagine time passing by- the hours, days, decades and centuries that have brought us to the present day. That’s how long it takes for a single native tree to grow and form the hollows black cockatoos need to raise their young. Two centuries for one home.
Their distinct calls once blackened our skies; today, their flocks dwindle as they fight starvation and homelessness due to climate change, habitat fragmentation and land clearing among many other threats.

MY STORY: OPERATION CARNABABY
At 15, I led a team to build 40 artificial hollows with Shenton College, fledging 19 chicks and sparking a movement. Now, I’m rallying WA to #FightForFlight:

Led by Dean Arthurell, a passionate conservationist I’ve worked alongside for four years, this organisation makes an impressive impact. Dean has installed 39 artificial hollows I constructed with my team at Shenton College which have fledged 19 chicks to date. From climbing trees to installing hollows, rescuing injured birds, educating students, and engaging the public with a licensed display flock, Dean works tirelessly every day for the cockatoos.
