People have asked me about details on what happened the night of Friday January 6, 2017. Instead of texting it a dozen times I decided to share it on here.
I have 983 friends on Facebook. If each one of them gave me $1 I would have a $983. I figured someone who has a really good job or something could donate $5. So that’s how I came up with the amount $987. All of these funds (if I get any) will go to towards my next car or getting this one fixed.
Now here is what you all came here for. I don't remember all the names, so to be fair I changed all of them.
Scroll to the paragraph starting with "So I'm on my way to José's place" if you want to skip the backstory.
It was a Friday night and I had just got done doing a little shopping at the JCPenney for a winter hat and scarf. My friend's mom had recently died and I figured if I go to her funeral it’s a possibility some of it may be outside and there may be a good chance it would be cold.
After walking through the parking lot to my 2008 Dodge Challenger, which I had picked up on Wednesday from the collision shop for some front end damage, I decided to see what everyone else was doing on Facebook.
I ignore all the "Why I am still single? I’m a good guy “and” This wouldn't happen if Bernie was president" non-relevant to my interest posts until I come across something more promising. A friend of mine, we'll call him José, posted "Someone want to do something tonight?"
I thought to myself, I'm someone and I want to do something tonight. So I texted José telling him I'm on my way to his place.
So I'm on my way to José's place. Part of the route requires me to drive eastbound on Metro Parkway. As I'm driving down this road I pass Van Dyke and think what everyone else thinks "Here comes the hump... WEEEE that was fun".
Except this time it was not fun.
Right before the driveway used to enter the Meijer, someone pulled out of the driveway not going 55mph. I saw the tail lights of a Jeep Patriot grow closer to me so I hit the brakes and hoped they work. Turns out they work, but they didn’t prevent my vehicle from slamming into the one in front of me.
I felt a dense thud followed by the sound of an air mattress filling up instantly (if that were a thing). Airbags went off, all the interior lights turned on, and dust filled the air. I saw the tail lights of the vehicle disappear and thought the driver of the Jeep just drove off.
After what could have been a few to 30 seconds, I wondered if my car would start so I could pull off to the shoulder to avoid getting in another accident. Surprisingly it did and I saw the vehicle I just hit pulled over.
I get out of my car and walk to the driver of the Jeep, we'll call her Sharon. I see that she’s crying frantically and I tap on her window ask her if she's okay, she asks me if I'm okay. We're both okay. She says something along the lines of "I didn't see you coming" and I thought to myself how do you not see a bright orange car, but I was a nice guy and didn't.
I then phone the police to get an officer out to report the accident. It's really cold outside. Lucky for me I just bought a hat and scarf... so I thought.
Even though I was wearing a coat and had a hat, and gloves (already owned), and scarf on, I started to feel this uncomfortable cold feeling. I was getting cold, so I worked up some charm and walked up to Sharon's Jeep and asked if she would mind if I sat in her car. She seemed more than willing.
The gal was still in tears so I tried to calm her down by telling her it’s not that bad because no one got hurt. I mentioned that out of everyone she could have caused an accident with, she's lucky it was with me because if it was some people I know the police would be coming out to a murder. I told her this so she didn't think I was going to kill her before the police arrived.
The police arrive. Officer Rick Harrison asks which vehicle was mine and I tell him it’s the really broken one. He then asks for my drivers license, registration, and insurance and asks me to write down what happened. He offers me a seat in the back of his squad car where it is nice and warm and it was one of the ones with an actual backseat.
As I write down what happens the flat bed arrives and takes my vehicle away. Officer Harrison then tells me Sharon was at fault and asks if I have anyone to pick me up. I tell him no but will figure something out. He then offers me a ride to the nearby Meijer as I wait for a ride.
He then drives me to Meijer. I tell him thanks for everything ask him to roll down the window. Once I'm inside, I check-in to Meijer on Facebook and post:
"Anyone want to give me a ride home from Metro Parkway and Vandyke... Pic for attention."

Within a few minutes I get a message from José saying he'll pick me up. It's nice having good friends =)
So that’s what happened folks. If you were entertained with this story based on a real life event, donate if you want to or convince someone else to do it.
