Hello Everyone,
I am reaching out to ask for your support and prayers for Tony Drinnon.
Tony had to go on disability from his employer and is currently not working because of his health conditions (Chronic Kidney Failure and Congestive Heart Failure). He has had Type 1 Diabetes since he was 14 years old. During 2020, he had a severe case of COVID-19, which caused him to have a heart attack. Since then, his kidneys have failed, and he is on peritoneal dialysis. His heart is failing, and he had an ejection fraction of 14%, which has improved somewhat through cardiac rehab. He had a defibrillator implanted in 2023. He was in the hospital once in 2024, three times in 2023, three times in 2022, and an average of twice per year in 2020-2021.
Tony was evaluated for a kidney transplant alone at three different hospitals but was denied due to his heart not being strong enough. After many visits with the cardiologist and heart failure doctor, he was then referred to Vanderbilt University as his heart was worsening, to be evaluated for a dual organ transplant (Heart and Kidney) in August 2024. He was approved due to his failing organs. He has been added to the Transplant list at Vanderbilt since September 2024.
The support will be assisting Tony and a caregiver to have lodging near Vanderbilt Hospital, costs incurred during the transplant process and rehab, food during this time period, medications (up to 100 pills a day), and to assist with insurance costs due to being out of work on disability.
He will have a mountain of medical bills to climb up out of. Thank you for your support and prayers. Also, prayers to the donors and their families. We are eternally grateful!
