Hello. My name is Amanda. I am a single mother of 3 girls and 1 boy. Their ages are 10, 6, 3, and my son is 4. Here's our story. Their father had trouble finding work after COVID. After a year of arguments about him not working and after our son came along and noticing his developmental delays, it was decided he would stay home and care for our kids, and I would work full-time to provide. So, since COVID, I have worked full-time and done all I can to provide the best I can for my babies. Their father and I ended our relationship in April of 2023. With him not having worked, he decided that it was in our son's best interest to stay in the home and still help care for them. On June 21st of this year, their father left my home. He has refused to help watch our kids in order for me to continue working, and I have not been able to contact him or locate him for any kind of child support. It took about a month to get childcare approved, and in that time, I was unable to work. At the end of July the ac went out in our home and we had to stay in a motel for 2 nights. At the end of the second night when picking my children up from day care my son could not walk. We went to the emergency room and they admitted him for 5 days and are still pending a few blood tests to see what the root of the problem is. He had gotten a virus thst turned into an infection and it had started to affect his muscles and causing many health problems. Since coming home from the hospital we have been put up for eviction from our home. Court was Thursday, August 14th. After reaching out to several different assistance programs, with only one being able to provide any kind of financial relief with a max payout of $1000, which my landlord would not accept, I have contacted every shelter in Louisville and am currently on a waitlist for my children and me. I was told it would likely be months before anything becomes available. I am currently working with my job, which I have been at for 2 years now. The only family I have is my great aunt, who is struggling with stage 3 kidney cancer. My parents live in Nebraska and have children my kids' ages, and honestly, we haven't had any kind of contact in years. All my kids have is me. And I don't know what else I can do to help the situation. I appreciate anyone that took the time to read my story. And thank you from me and my babies for any prayers or donations that are given. I've tried so hard to make things happen and to do the best I can. I don't know where else to turn to.
I will use the funds raised here to hopefully find a new home for my children and I. If we can't find a shelter with enough room for all of us I will look into getting an extended stay for them so they dont have to sleep in the car and are able to shower and have meals other then dry goods or fast food. I don't know how much I'll need to get us back on our feet. I appreciate everyone for sharing and for your donations. ❤️
Thank you again, everyone
