Help Dave Fight Brain Cancer

Hi, my name is Dawn. I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my Amazing Fiance, Dave. I am not sure where to start as we never imagined we would be on this path, and we waited as long as possible to even consider doing this, as neither one of us likes to ask for help. 

On May 16, 2022, the first day back to work after visiting family in FL, we had just worked a full day, returned the rental car and were picking up dinner. Sitting in the drive-thru, Dave had a seizure. I immediately called 911, and he was taken into the closest emergency room to get checked out. After a CT Scan we were told that he would be transferred to the hospital in Ann Arbor; as there was a "spot" on his left frontal lobe and they were better equipped there to handle any further care he may need. Over the next few days, MRI's, CT Scans, Bloodwork and A Lot of Dr's; we were told that there was a tumor on the left frontal lobe that needed to be removed. He was scheduled for surgery on May 23, 2022. After the surgery, the Dr. said he was confident with the amount of the tumor he had removed; however, Dave had suffered another seizure in recovery. Due to the tumor's location in the left frontal lobe, Dave lost all mobility on the right side of his body (arm/hand, leg/foot, as well as speech). After some in-hospital rehab, he regained some mobility and speech. While continuing to work on mobility and speech, the biopsy came back. He was officially diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Astrocytoma Grade 4, IDH-Mutant.

We are now home with a very full schedule of PT/OT and Speech Therapy 2 times a week for 6 weeks, Radiation (Monday thru Friday) and Chemo (every day) for the next 6 weeks, along with many Dr. appointments; to start.

Dave is off work indefinitely; I have been off as well, to help care for him and make sure he can get to all of his appointments. Luckily, a position has been created where I can temporarily work from home as much as possible, which has been around 25 hours per week. We have filed disability paperwork, but were told that it could possibly take up to 120 days (if he is approved the first time around). We have also applied for Medicaid, as he does not currently have any insurance. This apparently is also quite a process. Hopefully these will both go into effect soon as we are already at the $200,000 out of pocket mark.
