Help Eve Recover from Abuse in a Queer Therapeutic Setting

This fundraiser is setup for Eve by a friend:

My name is Eve. I’m a trans lesbian survivor of sustained sexual, psychological, and economic abuse by someone who was both my roommate and a senior therapist during my training. I’m raising funds to survive and rebuild my life after escaping that situation.

Between 2022 and 2024, I lived with this person while training as a therapist. This was also three months after giving up sex work, being homeless and couch surfing. They presented themselves as a mentor and family, but over time they used their position to exert total control over my life. They sexually and emotionally abused me, regularly degraded me, and treated me as subhuman. Care was demanded from me and I was living on their terms through and through. They also forced me to comply with their problematic recurrences.

They also economically exploited me. I was made to work in four different roles in their organization, all unpaid. They told me the shelter they were “providing” justified this and did compensate me till they had to kick me out of their house. I had no time or energy to hold any other job. I was completely dependent, isolated, and trapped under the guise of mentorship, care, and queer solidarity.

The trauma of this experience has been long-lasting. I’ve lost my home, my community, and my ability to practice as a therapist. The work I once loved now feels like a reminder of everything I survived. I am in recovery, trying to survive day by day while rebuilding a life I can actually call my own. I have managed to get a job, but with no security net available moving on has been extremely exhausting.

This fundraiser will go toward:

Gender-affirming surgeries and post-op care

Safe housing and rent as I recover

Ongoing trauma therapy for complex PTSD

Time and space to find new work outside the therapeutic field that failed me

This is not a story I ever wanted to share publicly. But I am no longer willing to carry this in silence. If you can contribute or share this fundraiser, I would be incredibly grateful. It would help me reclaim autonomy, rebuild safety, and begin again on my own terms.
