Jeff needs help with medical bills for emergency surgery happening tomorrow.
Many of you know, or have heard me talk about Jeff. He is my younger brother, has always been a pain in my backside and is the best sibling any girl could ask for. In his mid-thirties, or probably sooner, he was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, more commonly known as CMT. It is a very common but unknown disease affecting the peripheral nerves of the hands and feet. You can read more about it and all the goodies associated with it at cmtausa.org.
Jeff has been dealing with the problems of this for over 10 years. He has had multiple toe amputations on his right foot, resulting in the decision to remove half the foot. Then the problems started on the left foot. Again, toe amputation as occurred. He has recently lost his job and is now qualified for disability benefits, but his insurance will not switch over for about a year.
He has been fighting an infection back in what is left of his right foot for about a month. Weekly doctor visits, medication and such associated with it to get it under control. To no avail.
He is currently scheduled for emergency amputation of his right leg, just below the knee, tomorrow.
