Boston USMC Service Dog Back Surgery
Donation protected
We have enough funds thank you everyone.
We have come to an agreement on cost and treatment with a local vet office. We left Boston at the vets office as they do not want her moving at all and drugged and pain meds to keep her still. I can read the comments but cannot reply to them, we are looking at other alternatives such as Acupuncture as surgery can actually make her worse, so for the time being she is restricted to all movement at vets office.
We will continue to update
Update: MRI tomorrow. Tufts vet seems to think it can be 4 different issues. I spinal tap and MRI will determine which one.
Could be slipped disc
Could be blood clot of Spine
Could be meningitis
Could be cancer
My vet believes its disc. ( we have changed vets) my vet was booked and could not fit us in. So we have to wait another day at least. Will update.
MRI and test will be 2,500K -3k alone. Will update paperwork on here in a few.
Please pray it is not Cancer
We no longer know what the cost will be as we have changed to a different vet tufts medical center in Grafton, MA.
Update: boston is on way to tufts ER veterinary clinic as she rapidly losing use of back legs. We will update once we know something. Thank you for the extra funds as this will probably be more costly than my vets original quote.
Boston is my husband service Dog who has hurt her back ( we do not know if it was an injury while playing, or something that happened over time) we have been given a quote of $3,400-$4,500. The only other option is euthanasia and that is not an option. We are selling everything we can to come up with the money ourselves, because we have never had to ask for help with any of our dogs. But this could mean life and death for our dog. A lot of you may remember Boston from the Boston silkes hike! We would like her to be there next year supporting her Veterans on the hike for 22kill Boston was rescued from a high kill shelter and I intend to give her a long life! Some way some how i will save her.
My husband and I cannot believe the support. We are both USMC vets and I’am currently nursing a broken foot. With the extra money raised my husband will be able to take a week off of work to take care of her. ( he doesn’t get paid to take time off.) this is a huge relief with my broken foot.
We cannot believe the love and support. My heart is overwhelmed. We have 9 other rescue dogs yes 9 all from kill shelters and we have always paid out of pocket for vet bills but this was just to much at once. My pride did not want to ask for help but this is our baby. I cannot lose her yet! She has years left!
Boston silkes hike 2019. Boston will be back to hike next year thank you all who donated and shared!
Thank you for everyone who commented and mentioned that she would need rehab and it’s costly we haven’t even thought that far ahead.
We will keep everyone updated! We will be calling the vet tomorrow letting them know we have the funds.
