Rob's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, everyone! My name is Amy Ferretti and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of Rob and Michelle VanGorder for Rob’s medical expenses. Rob has gone through so much starting back in 2010 when he had his first major craniotomy for Anaplastic Oligioastrocytoma Grade 3. Flash forward to February/March 2023 and Rob is back in the ring, fighting this tumor as hard as he can! On February 9th he had his 2nd major craniotomy. But his surgery was not without consequences. Rob now has right-side paralysis as well as speech and language deficits and they are still in the stage of not knowing if these are temporary or permanent.
UPDATE: Rob is now at home and has many needs, learning to walk and talk again.
Rob and Michelle have three kids (Nathanael, age 9, Grace, age 8, and Hannah, age 6). Rob also has a daughter, Chloe, age 22. If you know the VanGorder family, you know they are beyond kind and are so generous with all they have. When they say “I’ll pray for you,” they literally stop what they are doing and pray. When they say, “how can I help?” they mean it and help when and where they can. They share their hope and faith with whoever will listen. That faith has kept them strong and now it’s a chance for us, their circle of friends and those beyond, to reflect that kindness, generosity, and hope right back to them.
I am raising money to help Rob and Michelle cover all related medical expenses. Medicare does not cover most of what he will need.
UPDATE: They continue to use the funds toward the ramp. They have a ramp installed that they make payments on (installation was $800 plus monthly payments of $390). Rob’s additional immediate need is to have a chair lift so that he can use the bathroom and shower. (They do not have a downstairs bathroom which is where he is currently recovering.)
Rob’s other needs include (UPDATED):
-Medical supplies
-Medical copays for all of his follow-up appointments (OT, PT, Speech, and hospital)
-Numerous home accommodations including doorway ramps for front door and back sliding glass door
-Ongoing transportation needs including gas and food costs for follow-up appointments at Penn Medical Center in Philadelphia
-Wheelchair-accessible vehicle (They currently have a sports SUV)
Any extra money will go towards related medical expenses for Rob.
Consider giving what you can to this family. Be a part of the circle that helps aid Rob on his road to recovery!
