For the Love of Noah

Noah has had a rough start to his first year of Middle School. It began with a mystery illness causing extreme pain, and vomiting. This all started back on September 7th. It is now Oct 28th, and we are back in the hospital again with mystery issues. Back of September 30th, Noah was diagnosed with SMA syndrome. The syndrome is caused by the break down of the layer of fat that protects the intestines. This leaves the intestines open to damage. His upper intestines ended up getting twisted, thus blocking food and liquids. This caused him to throw up, and also extreme pain. He also could not gain weight. He ended up losing a total of 20lbs. If you know our kid, he's already pretty thin. The Specialists decided to do surgery, and put in a different type of feeding tube than he already has. This tube would go in past the blocked area, and let food and liquids to enter his body.The safest cure for SMA syndrome is just to put on weight. It will build that layer of fat back up, and inflate the intestine again.Noah ended up spending just short of a month in the hospital. Now just under 2 weeks out, here we are again. This has been rough..So, we are here again. Last night Noah started vomiting horribly, and has blood in his stool.We suspect that his tube, the part that snakes down into his intestines, could be poking a hole in his intestines. So, they are going to run some tests.No idea how long he will be here this time. Our poor kid is so sick of hospitals, and feeling miserable.I, his mother, have been traveling back and forth to hospital, work, and College. Both College and the hospital are 40 miles from home in Minneapolis. My husband, who himself recently had surgery, still cannot work due to after surgery restrictions. He stays with Noah all the time, and I go back an forth to the hospital, and stay over as much as I can.We are all exhausted. We all just need a break. This is taking a toll on us mentally, physically, and certainly financially. I'm ready for some good news...
As Ed can't work, I am taking the brunt of things. Plus my Noah's stipend that we count on to help is taken away when he is in the hospital. I only have my work income, which has not been much. I have used all my PTO, and have had to take unpaid days off to be with Noah.Our bills are piling up, and we desperately need travel expenses. I travel so much back forth. Gas money is getting hard to come by. The hospital does help a little with food, but only gives us enough food vouchers for one person to eat twice a day. That's nowhere near what we need.If you truly know me, you know things must be rough for me to create Gofundme for Travel expenses, and to help us get caught up on bills.
I take a lot of pride in doing all I can to provide for my son and husband. I just have to admit... I need help.Like I said it's been rough all around. It's got to get better eventually, right?
