Hi, my name is Kim Dodd. I'm starting this page for my brother Scott Dodd. Scott has had a hard 12 yrs health wise. Scott and I seem to have 'inherited' our mom's blood clot issue. Scott's was worse then mine because he let his condition go too far cuz he was hard headed, lol. He lost his leg from the knee down due to blood clots. He had several mild heart attacks, unbeknownst to him, and he developed a hole in his heart. This past year, the blood clots got out of control and he was put on platelet thinners and blood thinners. This seemed to work. This past week he was going back to his apt, he would wheel himself backwards to make it easier on himself back up to his apt. The wheelchair got stuck on something, it tipped over, his back hit the cement, then his head. By the end of that day, he was in pain in his head, nauseated and vomiting like the symptoms of a migraine. He went to one hospital and they sent him home. So he went to Cobb hospital. He has had to advocate for his health rights in Georgia. He finally got the drs and nurses on his side to figure out a plan and fix his issues. They discovered bleeding on the brain from the fall. To relieve the pressure, they would have to operate but because of how thin his blood was, he would bleed out on the operating table. So the next thing was to stop the thinners for 2 weeks before they could do that. Within 2 days of no thinners, his body started producing blood clots again. This time one on top of the bleeding in his brain, one in his lungs, his leg had them and his veins and arteries. So what could help him, could also kill him. So his wishes were to not be resuscitated if something should happen. So they started the heparin drip, he had physical therapy on Wednesday to help the cramp in his stump. He was stable. Then he started complaining he couldn't breathe, the applied oxygen and was trying to get him to get a CT scan, but his heart stopped. He wasn't by himself, he went quickly and peacefully. Scott had no life insurance, why, I don't know. I have contacted the VA, but since I need his personal info like his SS# which I don't have, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. All I want to do is get to Georgia, I have no vehicle right now, have my brother cremated, get to his apt, collect some things and bring him home. It took alot for me to do this because I was never raised to ask for hand outs. I figured if his friends wanted to help me, this would be the way. Thanks in advance. The amount of support I've received just today has been overwhelming! Scott thanks you all!
