As many of you know, Richard is a double lung transplant survivor who has faced unimaginable health challenges with courage and faith. Recently, a necessary medication intended to prevent his body from rejecting his new lungs reached a toxic level. This caused him to fall into a coma and led to both kidney and heart failure.

Richard has now been in a coma for nearly three weeks. While the journey has been incredibly difficult, there are signs of hope: over the last 24 hours, Richard has begun showing the first signs of responsiveness. He is following simple commands like giving a thumbs up, shaking his head “yes,” and squeezing hands. His kidneys are now starting to function again. We don’t have an update on his heart. These are small but powerful signs of progress, and we continue to pray fervently for his full recovery.

As you can imagine, the emotional and financial toll on Richard’s family has been immense. His wife, Glad, has been by his side every step of the way, but she also needs to continue working to support the family. They would like to hire a sitter to care for Richard while she is at work, and there are many additional expenses that continue to grow during this time.

This fundraiser is to help ease that burden—covering the cost of a sitter and any other urgent needs the family may face.
