Help Irene Get Back From The Brink

Donation protected
Update - Irene has suffered a setback, now that her treatment for Hepatitis C has started. It’s knocked her on her ass and she is tired a lot and won’t be starting work anytime soon. The treatment is 12 weeks long. If you can help her financially get over this hump, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank all of you who have donated so far, and for all of he continued prayers. She will be back to kickin’ ass soon!

As most of you know, Irene was diagnosed with liver cancer in February and was gifted a miracle 5 weeks ago. She received a new liver from a donor whose loved ones we can’t thank enough! We also found out today that her liver was filled with new tumors that had not been found. Her transplant was truly a miraculous gift of new life! She is doing well, responding positively to the anti-rejection meds and is recovering at home now. But... she still has quite a road ahead of her. Her recovery is a full-time job, with no pay. Her expenses are roughly $900 a month and our goal is $5,000. As an example, she takes 18 different medications, 5 different times of the day. Along with meds, she has to monitor blood sugar several times a day, give herself insulin shots, eat special meals and keep free from infection of any kind. This means she still has to be in as sterile an environment as possible. She also has a nurse coming over several time week. Because of all of this, she cannot work. Those of you who know our mom, know she is passionate about being a hairdresser, her family, friends and clients. She always says she’ll work ‘til the day she dies. She is one of the hardest working and generous people I have ever known. It’s tough for her to be away from everyone and not working, but it is imperative that she take excellent care of herself and go to her two weekly appointments at Cedars-Sanai hospital in LA. All of this takes money and the only income she has is a small amount from social security. The doctors say she has to be off work for about 6 months. She can possibly go to work earlier but it will be at least 4 months. We’ve made arrangements for some of her bills but this is only going to buy her a month. My brother and I are asking for donations of any amount at all to help her get over this hump and on with the new life she’s been given. Y’all know that she is always willing to help others in any way she can and I’d love it if we can get together and show her our support and belief in her. She is a strong, strong woman and with all of our help, she will be back to her ole feisty, funny, talented and sweet self soon. The money will go toward her bills, meds, supplies, groceries and other daily expenses, along with travel costs for her many doctor appointments for the next 6 months. Let’s show her some Big Fat Love!

This is her daughter, Michelle. My brother, Shane and I will be managing her expenses and maintaining this account for her. THANK YOU ALL! She has absolutely loved, been inspired and encouraged by all of your prayers, comments and good vibes throughout this whole ordeal! Keep’em comin! ❤️
