I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my son, Zakary Tyler Lackey.

On December 23rd, Zakary was riding his orange Harley, lovingly called Sunshine, a 2004 Harley Sportster that brought him so much joy. Riding has always been more than a hobby for Zakary—it’s been a way for him to connect with friends, explore the world, and find peace. On this day, while on his way home from his parent’s house, he was tragically struck by a truck that turned into his lane near 174th Pacific Avenue, changing Zakary’s life in an instant.

When Zakary arrived at the hospital, his condition was critical. Thanks to the quick and determined actions of the medical team, his heart was restarted, and he was placed on a ventilator so his body could rest and begin fighting toward recovery.

In the days since the accident, Zakary has faced many serious injuries, including broken orbital sockets around his eyes, a broken jaw, broken ribs on the right side, a left leg broken in four places, and a broken pelvic bone. He also has experienced bruising to his lungs and heart, along with a brain contusion which is bruising to his brain worse than a concussion. Despite these challenges, Zakary has shown incredible courage and determination. With the support of his medical team and two more surgeries planned in the near future, he is making steady progress. His doctors are optimistic about his recovery and confident in his resilience to heal and get back on his feet.

Zakary is not only a loving son, but also a positive and caring member of the biker community. He has touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, and infectious enthusiasm for life. Whether helping fellow riders, volunteering his time, or simply brightening someone’s day with his presence, Zakary has made a lasting impact on everyone around him.
