Alexei Davis Bone Marrow Transplant
16 year old Alexei Davis started chemotherapy on February 22nd, 2020 and is finally on her way to the cure! Alexei was diagnosed with a very rare condition called Aplastic Anemia in 2012. She has endured many years of monitoring, pokes to test blood counts and more bone marrow biopsies than anyone can count. The Davis's were waiting for Alexei to get better on her own or for the condition to become severe enough to finally be treated.
They received the news in December that her bone marrow just couldn't keep up anymore and was starting to make mutated cells so treatment was necessary. Treatment is chemo and radiation in preparation for a bone marrow transplant which will finally happen on February 27th, 2020!
Alexei is a selfless young lady who has been a continuous loving support to her mother, father, and 3 brothers. She was also responsible for saving her grandmothers life on December 10th, 2017. Her long term goals are to continue on to college to become a Pediatric Oncologist.
This devastating news about Alexei follows the years of the Davis's caring for their son Deacon who suffered meningitis when he was an infant and has been in and out of surgeries due to a failed shunt in his skull. Though Deacon is healthy now, the Davis's have been in a continuous spiral of hospital bills.
It was necessary Katrina Davis, Alexei's mother, to go on disability to be by her daughters side through this painful and emotional journey. Unfortunately, insurance covers a limited amount of the transplant and anticipated 1-3 month hospital stay depending on how quickly her body accepts the transplant.
Any donations or support will go directly to the Davis family to pay outstanding hospital bills or groceries for the family.
