ISO: New right leg
Donation protected
Over 3 years ago, my badass fiancé Valecia was attending the police academy while she was working at the Sheriff's office as a correctional officer. During training she endured a tragic and horrific accident. While running an obstacle course simulating a pursuit scenario, she jumped over a wall and landed in a pile of cinder blocks and other debris. Her right leg suffered a pilon fracture of the distal tibia and breaking the fibula on the right ankle.
This was a career ending and life changing injury. Not only did she have to change her career choice, she also has had to deal with the pain and discomfort of the injury. Unfortunately in Texas, colleges are immune to litigation for injuries sustained on their campuses. So she has never received any monetary compensation for her injury. She has been taking care of her medical bills, medication, doctor visits and surgeries through her own insurance and personal income.
She has been dealing with this for 3 years. She has seen numerous specialists and surgeons to remedy the situation to no avail. After countless doctor visits and 16 surgeries, it was decided in order to improve her health and quality of life she would need to have a below the knee amputation. This procedure occurred on Friday 8/21.
She is recovering well, yet she has a very long and painful road ahead of her with physical therapy and rehabilitation and eventually being fitted for a prosthetic leg. ( her magic leg)
I am reaching out to those who understand what it's like to be in a situation of uncertainty or unfamiliarity. Valecia is a strong, independent yet stubborn woman. She would NEVER ask for anyone to help her. I practically had to beg her to receive a blessing prior to her surgery, Her response "There's people out there who need one more than I do". This should give a brief glimpse into her unselfish personality.
I am asking for any donations to help her during her journey of recovery. She is a young woman with a 5 year old daughter. Being out of work during her recovery period is going to be a serious financial hardship. IF you could find it in your heart to help her out in any way possible, I know Heavenly Father will bless you immensely.
Thank you for taking the time to learn of Valecia's difficult journey and I pray Heavenly Father blesses you and that you receive all the blessings you deserve.
