Hello, my name is Lisa. My long time friend, Scott, a hardworking father & grandfather, suffered a disabling brain injury in an attack at work and was failed by worker’s comp and social services. He URGENTLY needs money to pay his mortgage to avoid foresclosure, as well as needing money for food and fuel.

He needs at least $2,000 immediately, and $3,700 to clear his mortgage arrears and protect his home.

As you can see from the total, we have raised money for Scott already, but that total is from donations spread across 2 years and all the money has already gone on housing, food and medical expenses. He has nothing left to meet the current need.

Scott was injured while working as a bouncer in May 2023 and suffered a serious brain injury. Brain injuries are complex and life altering and Scott's is no different. He hasn't been able to work since his injury due the many health issues including vertigo, seizures and excruciating headaches. He is now close to losing everything, especially since worker's compensation cut off assistance over a year ago and are lying to avoid paying him.

Scott was working a full time job as well as part time at The Raven for years, but had recently left his full time job and was due to start somewhere else in a few weeks, but the injury made that impossible.

He is a loving "papa" to 5 grandkids, a beloved dad to 4 adult kids. He loves to cook and work with his hands and is one of those rare people who can build anything.

Even though he suffered multiple previous concussions, Scott did not receive the medical attention he needed after the attack. He did not have an MRI or brain imaging until this year, with an MRI in August and further brain imaging in October. His workers' compensation assistance was cut off more than a year ago, leaving him without the support he needs while he continues to deal with the effects of his injury.

Because his only job at the time he was injured was part-time, the financial assistance he received each month was extremely limited and didn't even entirely cover food and utilities, much less a mortgage. He hasn't even received this pittance in nearly a year now.

Even with as much help as close friends and family have managed, as well as using everything he had saved for retirement, he's been slipping further and further into debt.

While this fundraiser won't get him out of debt, it will give him some breathing room and relieve some of the stress, which is extremely important to his attempts at recovery.
