Located in Sacramento, CA, the Sea Scout Ship - Polaris along with our sponsoring organization the Eagles Nest Society are looking for your help to keep our program afloat.
In this age where sooo many teens are either buried deep in their phones or playing games on their computers we get them out into the real world to learn real skills that will help prepare them for life. We take teens, both boys and girls, from all walks of life and give them an opportunity that would normally be out of their reach. Of course it doesn't hurt for them to have fun while they're doing it.
Our experienced staff of volunteers go above the call of duty to offer these opportunities, but keeping up with our maintenance can be daunting. We currently are offering up to 25 teens the the ability to venture out onto the water in 2 power boats and 3 sail boats. Recently we performed a mechanical overhaul of our primary vessel the SSS Polaris and now we are scheduling an engine/transmission replacement for our Erickson sail boat the SSS Charge!. That combined with lines, rigging and dockage can be very difficult to keep up with.
