I first adopted Mui Mui(Chinese for little sister), 9 weeks old on at height of Covid, followed by Rupert 4-5 months 2 weeks later. Rupert was adopted as a companion for Mui Mui. Secretly, I’ve always wanted a Siamese ever since I fell in love with the Bewitched series ( sorry, Dick York fan , not Dick Sargent)
I’ve never had cats, grew up in a dog family. But as Stroke survivor, my mobility issues prevented me from getting a dog.
Sorry Doggie People, I’m a Confirmed Kitty Mama Now!

Rupert is a very doglike Siamese!
Comes on command; lays down on the floor next to me whether I’m reading or watching TV ; sleeps at the foot of the bed ( he has several cat beds); fetches; does tricks, etc.
He keeps me delighted and joyful , especially during Covid!
Helped me tremendously with anxiety and depression during that awful period.
Rupert is now very ill❤️‍
Yesterday he didn’t wake me up as he usually does with a gentle paw on my arm. If that doesn’t do the trick, he aims for the face.
I noticed he was not around, which is unusual for him, he’s always first to breakfast.
I discovered him hiding beneath the sofa between the meshing.
He was breathing heavily, drooling, lethargic, and unresponsive with unfocused eyes.

I called around to get him in to see a vet, knowing how expensive ER Vets.
All the vets, required a $200 up front for ER service.
Luckily a friend referred me to her vet, South Valley Animal Hospital.
They were willing to get him in w/o that upfront fee.

Dr. Dina, wonderful woman and vet, who laid out the various options and costs.
I had informed her of my financial situation, retiree on a fix income through SSA with not much wriggle room.
She suggested blood work to see what’s going on.……

Results came back were Not Good.
I heard advanced cases of liver and kidney disease = my brain just automatically shut down!
I could not process whatever else was mentioned.
She offered options and costs: I asked for opinions if Rupert was hers.
We’re focusing on getting his breathing, fever and lethargy back up.
Stabilizing him first and then focus on the liver and kidney disease.
He stayed overnight, some improvement but just the start of of I hope is a quick journey.
He is currently on IV, meds, oxygen tent.
To date: he care is $1,378 and counting ……
His drooling is not improving and further testing needed
Ultrasound is needed next ($500)
X-ray also suggested ($450)
Oxygen tent
Meds and special dietary supplements and food. It would mean the world if I was able to raise enough money to help care for my sweet fur baby. Any donations are really appreciated!
