Help Two Hardworking Girls in India Attend College

My name is Janaki Mohta, and I am learning Vedic thought with my grandparents. Part of his project involves doing good deeds for others, and I have chosen to focus on female literacy and education. Through my grandmother’s friend Mrs. Priya Kosalram, who lives in Hyderabad, India and runs an after-school tutoring program called the Narayana Educational Institutions for children in need, we have made contact with two sisters named Sneha and Swarna who need funding for transportation and textbooks. Sneha is an eager engineering student and Swarna has just been accepted into a prestigious engineering school, and these two resources will greatly improve their studying experience. Below are photographs of Mrs. Kosalram and both girls, as well as their own, lightly-edited accounts of their lives. Any and all amounts are welcome!

Update: Both Sneha and Swarna are doing well in college. Sneha is in her second year of Computer Engineering, and Swarna is in her first year studying Artificial Intelligence. Both girls have bought computers for their studies, raising the goal slightly, but we are still well on our way. Thank you all so much for your generous donations!

Sneha, 19

"My name is [Sneha] Latha.

I was born on 11th January 2003 in [Hyderabad].

My Father works as a Watchman.He relocated to Hyderabad before his marriage to my Mother.

My Father was constantly fighting with my Mother because she gave him only daughters.

My sister is one year younger to me.

My Mother works as a cook.

When I was 7years old my Father left us.Subsequently he married again and has another family.

My Grandmother also lives with us as my mother is an only child.

I joined Kanya Gurukul High School and passed my SSC [similar to SAT] with good scores.

While in the 10th Class I joined Priya Amma's After School where we were helped with our homework and prepared us for the Exams.Iyyagaru [Mrs. Kosalram's husband] helped with my Biology those days.

"My name is Swarna Latha.

I was born in Hyderabad on 18th October 2004.

I also have completed my Inter from Narayana Inter College.

Like my sister I also studied in Kanya Gurukul and passed my SSC with good grades.

I too went to Priya Amma's After School. Iyyagaru [Mrs. Kosalram's husband] taught me History and Geography.

[Mrs. Kosalram's] friend Manju S.Bob sponsored my Narayana Tuition Fees.

Because it was all online classes and we had only one phone between the two of us [Mrs. Kosalram] got me a Phone and a Dongle as [Wi-fi] and Internet were difficult to access.

Like my sister I also want to be an Engineer. It is my dream.
