Sterling's Bathroom Matt-ification
With the great news this week that Matt moved into a sub-acute care facility for PT, OT and numerous other therapies to help him recover from his medical odyssey, Carrie is starting to plan for his return home. She would like to get some work done on the bathroom, to make it more wheelchair-friendly, especially as Matt is likely to need assistance when he is back at home, sweet home, continuing to work hard to regain his strength.
Matt has talked for years about wanting to open up the space between the laundry area and the toilet, so Carrie created a plan to make the laundry closet smaller with a stacked washer/dryer, leaving plenty of space for Matt to maneuver.
Matt has also long wanted to replace the existing bathtub with an open shower he can use safely and easily. Transferring from his wheelchair into the bathtub onto a shower chair is challenging, so being able to move in and out of an open space will make Matt's life infinitely easier.
We've all been asking what we can do to help Matt and Carrie: This bathroom "Matt-ification" is the perfect project to help make Matt's--and Carrie's--life a lot easier for years to come.
Carrie is overwhelmed by the love and support she, Matt and Frank have already received from friends, family and people she barely knows. No one should feel obligated to support this fund--you have all done so much, and it is all appreciated. Please donate if you can, and by all means share the link with anyone who knows and loves Matt. This will be a wonderful SURPRISE for him when he finally comes home.
