DIGNITY FOR JACKIE
The family and friends of Jacqueline Barrett-Madigan have set up this GoFundMe page in order to help pay for the costs of making her home fully accessible to meet her needs.
Jackie lives with her husband Tim and her mother and sister living nearby. After a cervical spinal surgery in her teens she fought many complications down through the years. Following her third spinal operation in December 2017 and a ten month stay in hospital. Jackie is now home but since her discharge in October she has had to rely on carers to give her bed baths as she is unable to access the toilet or shower facilities of their upstairs bathroom.
In order to restore the dignity and independence that she deserves there is a substantial amount of work to be done to the house. With no room to extend at the rear of the house their only option is to install a through floor lift, build and extend their bathroom and make their house as wheelchair friendly as possible. She has been fortunate to secure a council grant but unfortunately this only part covers the cost.
Jackie has always been an active member of the community and has achieved a lot down through the years despite her many health problems but has always prided herself on her independence and determination.
Your contributions will help Jackie regain her dignity, independence and privacy by giving her access to a toilet and shower within her own environment, something we all take for granted.
