Help Brian get a new leg
Donation protected
This request is to help out my good friend, and fellow Boy Scout leader, Brian Stringfellow.
As Brian's friends know he has had many challenges and setbacks on his quest to get on the heart transplant list to replace his heart that faltered in the Fall of 2009. He has lived with a VAD (heart pump) since that time and has had the complication of having an artificial leg to replace the one that he lost as part of his medical issues. Recently, he had lost 80 plus pounds on his way to the magical weight to be put on the transplant list. He did this by cutting back on his food consumption and exercising at the local gym. After losing that much weight his artificial leg needed to be padded significantly to fit his smaller stump. The leg has the maximum amount of padding it can take but it is still not enough to keep his stump from hurting while walking. The pain he now gets from walking has limited his mobility and his exercise.
Due to his medical issues he has mounting medical bills and one of the unpaid bills is for his current leg. He has been fitted for a new leg but cannot get the new one until he can pay for the remaining balance on his current leg and pay for the co-pay on the new one. He is between a rock and a hard spot. I hope to generate enough money to get Brian back to full mobility with a new leg.
Brian's current place in life is as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scout Troop in Edwardsburg, MI. Under his leadership, the Scouts in his Troop have taken the “spirit stick” the last 4 times they have gone to Summer Camp in Kalamazoo, and about half the times prior to that over the previous 10 years. That shows the impact he has had on the young people of Edwardsburg. The Troop really needs him to participate in their campouts and Summer Camp and the new leg will help out a lot to help him do that.
Please give what you can to help Brian get a new leg. Any amount over the requested amount will be used for Brian's other medical bills.
Thanks very much for your contributions.
