Cindy's Unexpected Medical Bills
Donation protected
2018 has been a pretty tough year so far, for our family. As many of you know, Dad died on February 28th. On July 6th, Mom's home of 44 years burned down in the West Fire in Alpine CA.
To add insult to injury, having not heard at all from my younger sister Cindy by 14 July, I went to her house. I found her unconscious/asleep on the floor at the top of her stairwell. (Her husband, Tom, was out of town because his father was being taken off of life support, he passed on 15 July).
My niece, Kira, came over and we managed to wake her up. We determined that she needed to get out of the house, and convinced her to get dressed and come with us. She threw up while brushing her teeth. She was very unstable and "confused". By the time we got her to the car, it was very evident something was seriously wrong with her. We took her to the ER at Tri-Cities Medical Center. She spent the next 5 days in the ICU with 2 brain bleeds. We still don't know exactly what happened to her but think she may have fallen down the stairs
and crawled back up.
She has been moved to a regular room and is showing a little improvement. She has pretty much been asleep and uncommunicative since last Saturday (14th). As of this morning, Tom reports she is "hungry for conversation".
Cindy has no medical insurance. She will be needing quite a bit of money in the near future because of this.
We still don't have a prognosis and do not know the extent of any damage that might have occurred to her brain.
If anyone is local in San Diego/Oceanside and could spare some time to sit with her, it would be much appreciated. Especially if she is released soon and sent home. We don't know when that might be yet...
Even if you can't contribute financially or with time, if you would share the post it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you SO MUCH for your support.
