Help Support Kathy’s Recovery

For those of you that know my mom, you know that she would literally do anything for anyone. She has been an extremely hard worker her entire life, and she will always put others needs before her own. My mom has cleaned houses for most of her life, but let me tell you, she is not your typical cleaning lady. She goes above and beyond for her customers. Honestly, she’s more like family to them than anything. You need a ride to the store, she’s got you. You need medications picked up from the pharmacy, she’s got you. You need your grandkids picked up from school? Yep, she’ll do that too. My mother is probably the most selfless person I know. She wouldn’t ever dare to ask anyone for help, which is why I’ve created this, in case anyone is feeling generous and wants to help give back to her.

On Tuesday, my mom was working late (go figure), and decided to take one last load of yard waste to the dumpster. As she was trying to unload the bags from the back of her truck, she was balancing between the truck bed and the dumpster and lost her footing. She landed on her leg and heard it crack. After being brought to the ER with her leg basically sideways from the knee down, she found out that she had a tibial plateau fracture (knee), as well as a fracture in her fibula. She had surgery on Thursday, which went well, but she has a long recovery ahead of her. The surgeon said it was one of the worst cases he’s ever seen. She has to be non weight bearing for 3 months. That’s no weight whatsoever for 3 whole months, plus who knows how long she’ll need after that to get back on her feet (literally).

With summer being her busy time of the year (cleaning and mowing lawns), my mom is very stressed about being out of work. Her work consists of manual labor, and she’s not going to be able to do that for quite awhile. And since she is self-employed, she does not have any form of disability to help her get by. If you would like to help ease some of the financial burden while my mom is off work, your donation is greatly appreciated! However, if you are not in a place to donate, we will also take all of the prayers and positive thoughts this way. We’re definitely going to need it as we face new challenges over the next few months.

I always told my mom that she needed to slow down, but never expected it to be like this. If you know my mom, she’s probably done something to help you in some way, shape, or form…so this is your way to help give back to her. We appreciate any contributions, prayers, and positive vibes as we get through this challenging time.
