Hello my name is Matt. I have been working as a truck driver for a few years now and as several of you know I have sustained an injury during my employment. This is why I am here on gofundme.

In early 2024 I began loosing sensation in my hands which was determined to be a possible SLAP tear in my shoulder. I was in pain but I followed the work comp process as it was given to me. My employer moved me to a not working status and advised me to stay home. Eventually surgery came but the issues continued. At the beginning of this year I was told I needed an independent medical evaluation as well as a functionality capability exam (FCE) to determine my ability to return to work. After being sent for the FCE they informed me I was “grossly overcompensating” for my shoulder and would cause irreparable damage. Their advise was more physical therapy. The independent evaluation never came instead work comp sent the results back to the original surgeon who said there was nothing more he could do and release me back to work.

I was backed into a corner and had no choice to return, so I did. Only to have the pain and numbness return. Even after repeatedly reporting it to my supervisors nothing became of it because they had closed my case… my supervisors informed me it was a nuanced situation. I took myself to the doctor where it was determined I have a neck injury as a result of my shoulder issues. The work comp case was reopened and I have been on lite duty since. This has been keeping me somewhat afloat but struggling… until this last Thursday… when they gave me papers telling me I would no longer be employed here. To say the least my attorneys office is having a field day over the matter but this is where my problem exists. I have $-250 in my account, my car payment is two months behind, rent will be due on the 1st and too boot my power is set to be shut off on the 1st.

Look I don’t want to be asking for money to just survive another month but I have no other options. I have sold all I can short of my essentials, I donate plasma to turn to fuel for my vehicle. I skip meals where I can… I’m just out of time and out of options. I’ve called 211, locate help options but there are waiting lists, donations that have nothing to address my needs OR options for AFTER I HAVE FAILED and have no where to go… but nothing for this. I have even gone as far as asking family only to get shown these same options over again.
