On Saturday evening December 6, Marti was awake with Penny all night as she vomited continuously. That next morning, Penny was taken into the emergency vet hospital where she was admitted and diagnosed with pancreatitis. She has been there ever since, and Marti and Scott have with her most of the time, including Marti sleeping there 2 nights.

Penny’s pancreas is very inflamed, and needs time to heal. The issue with needing time and care is that it is very costly. She is receiving antibiotics, has a feeding tube, pain meds, and IV fluids around the clock, and is also getting x-rays and ultrasounds. The cost of a 24 hour stay is approx $4,000, and they are currently up to a balance of $11,000. The Doctor says this can take time, and with time, she can recover, but this unexpected expense is taking a toll. 

Penny is a huge part of the Hwang family. She has been through many moves, babies, losses, and life with them. Penny loves her kids, Hope and Theo, and adores all of her family. She’s one of the greatest gifts they have ever received!

Right now, they want to give her the chance to heal and live, and need some extra help!
