Hello friends,

Susin here, just writing an update about our friend Maureen.

First of all, I just love this photo of the sunset, taken in Manzanita, 2 years ago. My sister and I spent a week there celebrating the life of our little brother, Jimmy. He left his family way too early. It was devastating. This photo, though, makes me smile, it brings joy as I remember this special time with my sister, it gives me hope, it strikes a chord with my heart, and my spiritual being.

Which brings me to our friend, Maureen. I have spent more time with her lately, than I ever have. (I've known her for over 20 years. ) Trust me, I regret that, as I have learned many amazing things about her...like how creative she is, how funny she is, how loving and loyal she is to her family. I have been able to hear stories about her family, her kids, and her grandchild, Arlo.

I've joined her twice now in the Cancer Centers infusion room. We can sit quietly together, or chat, and giggle a time or two. It is a rather intimidating, clinical room, abuzz with activity, full of other patients sitting in recliners, with all kinds of drips infusing into their ports, and IV's.

Maureens first chemo infusion did not go so well. She reacted to the chemo infusion, they stopped it and she needed rescue meds to stabilize her. It was disappointing to say the least.

That's the way it goes with this type of journey. There are ups and downs. Yesterdays second round went much better. She tolerated the all day therapy, sometimes with a smile, but sometimes with tears slightly brimming her eyes. More and more, our friend realizes what a very long road she is on.

I am trying hard to reach our goal of $ 10,000. Maureens ultimate goal is to return to work, to surgical floor, to her community. Any continued assistance is much appreciated. We are so close. We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
