Erin was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in April 2023. After enduring chemotherapy, immunotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy, and two subsequent lumpectomy surgeries after a recurrence, she was set to start radiation this month to mop up any errant cancer cells. However, when she thought an end was in sight, the cancer reared its stupid ugly head in her lymph nodes and blindsided her with more terrifying uncertainty, more biopsies, more surgery, more time stolen from her. Cancer just takes and takes and takes and then takes some more.
One thing about the life-altering blow of cancer - the rest of life does not stop. She still has to go to work to keep the insurance that keeps her alive, pay bills, be a mom, etc., etc., etc. Through it all, she remains relentless about showing up for her kids - in pain, exhausted, and, for a while, bald as a cue ball. Many Fridays meant Erin sitting in an infusion chair in the morning, then driving three hours to a ballgame in the afternoon.
Erin won’t like this because she doesn’t want to feel like anyone is being put out on her behalf. I have been incredibly fortunate to attend almost every appointment with her and, as anyone who knows her won’t be surprised to hear, she tells me she is sorry a lot, as if she chose to have her life derailed by this evil, selfish, rapacious disease. Whether she believes it or not, she deserves the love and kindness of whatever relief we can give her. Thank you for reading, sharing, and donating if you are able.
All funds will be given directly to my little sister Erin and will be used to help cover her insurance deductibles, co-pays, and travel expenses.
If you would like to donate outside of this platform so that 100% of your donation goes to Erin (there is a 3% processing fee to GFM). Also, please note that any tip added through this platform does not go to Erin and does not offset the 3% fee.
