Help for Jake

My entire world has been turned upside down by a few words "Your son has a cancerous tumor around his heart"

On Monday April 11, 2022 we received this devastating diagnosis when we took our son Jake to the ER because he was having trouble breathing. We had noticed his face was swollen about 2 weeks prior to this date, April 11, I called his doctor and was instructed to keep an eye on him and to take him to the ER if it got worse. We continued our normal routine, Jake was going to school and to his Jiu-Jitsu classes. On Saturday April 9 he complained his chest hurt and he was having trouble breathing, we took him to the ER they ran blood tests and X-rays and we were told his ribs were swollen, we were instructed that he was to rest as much as possible and avoid carrying anything heavier than his school backpack. We were told that allergies was the reason his face was swollen. On Sunday April 10 Jake asked me if I could take him to the movies, he wanted to see the new Sonic movie, we invited his friend Ximena and had a good and fun day at the movies/mall. I felt relieved to know that allergies was the cause his face was swollen and that by him resting his ribs were going to heal, little did I know the worst was about to happen that night.

 

At around 4am on April 11, Jake came to our bedroom and woke us up to let us know he was unable to breath, we rushed him the ER and after a lot more tests and scans I received the horrible diagnosis. He was diagnosed with a T-cell lymphoma cancer. The tumor is all around his heart and part of his chest. He has started chemotherapy and will be on treatment for at least 9 months. As of today we don't know when he will be able to go home and I cannot put in words the pain I am feeling.

Seeing my baby going through so much at only 10 years old is the absolute worst thing ever.
