Love like Luca

My sister and I are writing this on behalf of our nephew Luca. Lacey and Larry’s 5 year old little guy, Luca, needs our prayers now more than ever. We received news that no mother, father, or family should have to receive. Luca has been diagnosed with Pre-B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and has been admitted to the University of Michigan Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. We are starting this GoFundMe to help raise funds to help support Luca and his family as they navigate this unimaginable situation.

Over the past couple of months Luca had been experiencing pain in his back after falling off the monkey bars at recess, along with fatigue and a cough that he just couldn’t kick. After multiple visits to the pediatrician and chiropractor it was decided to get some blood work done. On Tuesday, Luca’s pediatrician called Lacey with the lab results. She was told that the results could be indicative of Leukemia, and that she and Larry needed to take Luca to the hospital right away. Luca was admitted to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, where more testing was completed. Yesterday,(12/20) Luca was diagnosed with Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

We are praying for a miracle and waiting on final tests and results. The hematologist has been in and has discussed plans moving forward to begin treatment. The surgical team will start today by performing a bone marrow biopsy, a spinal tap and a PICC line placement. Plans are to begin chemotherapy as soon as this evening. This will be a long, hard journey, but Luca is the strongest and bravest boy we know. He is our everything and we need him to be okay.

If anyone has ever had the pleasure of meeting our Luca, you know how special he is. He is an angel on earth, he is the kindest soul, a mama’s boy with the sweetest demeanor, he loves Jesus, his family, including his little sister, Nova.

What he wants most for Christmas is to celebrate Jesus’s birthday with his family, that’s his biggest concern being in the hospital right now. What we want most is a cure for our buddy.

We ask for and appreciate your prayers more than you know. We know that Luca knows Jesus and talks with him daily and we know He will help him through this. Luca is such a special little guy and oh so loved!

As Lacey and Larry will be off work to be by Luca’s side, the medical and travel costs will be very trying and unpredictable. We’re asking for any donations, prayers, and shares of this page so we can help our sister and her sweet, sweet family during this heart wrenching time.
