Hi Friends and loved ones!
In July I'm planning to get involved as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer in Bangalore, India. I'm humbly asking for your donations to support this effort which will provide a HOME for a family living in dilapidated housing.
Many of you know that I have a flair for seeking adventure and learning about new cultures. This time I wanted to do something that could sustainably change lives. In Bangalore, I'll be building homes with a team of other volunteers for 15 days. Volunteering for Habitat for Humanity costs roughly about three thousand dollars. The volunteer program cost helps to further Habitat's housebuilding work by supporting program coordination and local construction. Donations beyond the volunteer costs are further directed to other Habitat Humanity projects around the world.
Habitat India efforts help individuals such as Malan Baiker.
Malan Baiker lived near a jungle in a house without a toilet. She had to walk 20 minutes to get water. Worse still, there wasn't a medical facility, public transportation, or a doctor who traveled that far to see patients. "My son got ill, and he died because we couldn't take him to a doctor in time." Malan said. Now she lives in a Habitat home in a more accessible area, and she has more than doubled her income. With her home-based tailoring business, she brings in 1,000 rupees (US$20) a month. "What I love most about my new home is that I have my own business and I can work whenever I want."
Your support builds more homes, creates resource centers, educates families, and advances HH projects to build sustainable communities.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read about this project! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me via Facebook, email, or through the Gofundme page.
While I am putting forth my resources towards this project, I hope you'll be able to share the joy of making a contribution with a big impact.
About Habitat for Humanity India
While India's economy is resilient amid global recession, the South Asian country continues to face the challenge of alleviating poverty. According to Indian government statistics, the country lacks some 50 to 60 million units of adequate housing.
Habitat for Humanity India was formed in 1983 and has built more than 17,000 houses. Habitat's IndiaBUILDS campaign aims to house 250,000 people over five years, mobilizing one million volunteers in the process and raising capital toward that goal.
We invite you to join our Global Village team in partnering with families in need to help build safe, affordable, decent homes. Working together, we can create positive change. Thank you for becoming a part of the Global Village experience!
